Pond cleanouts

• Drain pond, saving some of the water to keep koi (if present) in holding tank while cleaning
• Power wash walls, bottom and waterfall of pond
• Refill pond water
• Introduce fish back into pond, including using old water that contains beneficial bacteria
• Clean up debris around pond
• Add chemicals as needed to pond

Pond Closings

• Disconnect pumps and any electrical equipment
• Disconnect filter, drain and bring inside if possible
• Drain water out of pipes and close off using appropriate plugs
• Ensure that aerator and/or de-icer are installed and running

Pond Openings

• Take out plugs from pipes and make sure all valves are on
• Install pumps and equipment as needed
• Turn on equipment and check for leaks
• Add beneficial bacteria and any other chemicals needed
